Update...

It's been an interesting month here in the soggy Northwest. I don't have any images of new work to put up yet, but they'll be coming soon.
November was an eventful month. I moved into my fantastic studio and was promptly flooded by torrential rains. My artwork survived intact, but the walls are now splotched with mold where the water came streaming down. Not one to be deterred, I had a rewarding open studio, in which one of my favorite pieces found a good home.
Back on the East Coast, the Cornerstone Gallery featured one of my new pieces in their "Art to Go" fundraiser.
Also, I've been chosen to show in the Blue Heron Gallery next October. I'll share the space with a painter from Portland, OR.
That's it for now, but I'll be posting images soon.

hey got your comment. grad school has been fun, very enlightening to say the least. the setup here is a little strange when i compare it to VCU's. 15 credits a semester, 6 of which are two advisors required each semester, 12 overall credits of art history for the two years, seminar is never required although suggested, 9 credits of electives, and basically 39 credits which will include advisors, seminars, and any studio at the junior level and above. So this semester I have had two advisors (3 credits each) meaning an hour long meeting every other week, two art histories (3 credits each), and a seminar for the last 3 credits. Next semester I'm doing two more art histories to finish that requirement and two advisors one for 3 cred. and the other for 6 credits. Oh every semester you have a panel critique with 5 people you haven't worked with, mine's on friday. Papers and presentations for the art histories. Overall its been a great experience and the city although bitter cold its alot of fun. You can email me at dmatthews@saic.edu
