I am happy to announce that I will be exhibiting a new series of paintings at Gallery 070 in May. The series is entitled Fog & Other Mysteries. The work, which is executed in oils and acrylics, is a tonal investigation of space, light, and atmosphere. I will post more images in the future, and look forward to seeing many familiar faces at the opening.

I think this is a really interesting direction for your work, Michael...or at least an interesting project. Do you have any plans to execute larger works of this kind?

Absolutely. I'm in the process of painting a number of canvases, including the one for which this is a study. This image is on a 3'x2' canvas. The largest is 3.75'x6' and the smallest is currently 6" wide, but I plan on executing a few tiny guys to stick in there as well. I get a kick out of the big size range. I'll post the whole bunch once they are done.
Hey Michael,
As you know, I'm big on landscape. In fact, I've chosen where I live based on how the landscape makes me feel. And yeah, its pretty, but really my attraction to it is based in metaphor: the external/internal, separation/union etc paradoxes that make up the essence of life. And those landscape paintings where you look at some mountains sideways and it turns into a reclining nude is just too surface for me. I like your figure in the forground, looking back at where he came from. Simple yet complex. Well done. I wonder if the rest of the series follows the same format? I imagine them all together showing different perspectives on the same theme...
Cheers,
Leah
